The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) envisions a world that is just and peaceful, where all live in dignity. It exists to empower children and other learners, especially the underserved and marginalized, through educational media, that they be the best them for themselves, their communities and help build a better world.
The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that operates the Knowledge Channel (K Channel) and Kchonline, the first and only TV and online media tandem primarily focused on the Philippines’ basic education curriculum. Following the Department of Education curriculum as guide, KCFI brings K-12 and Alternative Learning subjects and concepts to life on TV, the Internet and video on demand in the classrooms, learning centers and homes.
With its relevant, dynamic and engaging content, K Channel has become a foremost source of educational video materials in the Philippines. K Channel television alone is viewed by more than 3 million school children in close to 2,500 public schools in 54 provinces in all regions of the country, and has an expanded household viewership in 58 provinces. However, out of almost 42,000 public schools throughout the country, only 4.7% so far has access to K Channel.
Schools that have used K Channel programs regularly have reported increased scores in National Achievement Tests, lowered dropout rates and increased participation rates.
